Rooney fixed Everton's triumph from the penalty spot after Martin Olsson was decreed to have fouled Jonjoe Kenny.

Gylfi Sigurdsson's choice long-go strike against his previous club put Everton ahead after the break, before Rooney's penalty finished the scoring.
