Nigeria loses job opportunities of Data Centre to be setup in Africa by Microsoft.
American ICT giant Microsoft has identified the cities of Cape Town and Johannesburg in South Africa are suitable locations for it upcoming cloud data centres. Investigations by TVC news and references obtained on the project show that no Nigerian city has the needed infrastructure that could support the growth of the data centres.
Sources in the ICT sector said that Microsoft data centre in South Africa will prioritize cloud storage, internet services and data communications across Africa.
The sources agreed that data centres should boost of reliable energy supply, which Nigeria lacks.
What Microsoft was even coming down to do, they were to setup a data centre, knowing that everybody is going to cloud right now so they are trying to setup a place where collect information and help to store and leverage on the cost of some of the software we buy and all of that. However, for you to provide such a service infrastructure is key.
Nigeria has not gotten the energy to power, no data to drive, no security for personnel and we are not even sure of the multiple taxation they going to face coming from maybe the physical location, agents that are in that sector. It is a sad story to Nigeria because that is a lost for Nigeria.
